How has training benefitted your life/health?

I think the biggest change is energy, I now have an abundance especially the days I work out, which is a noticeable change from my previous lifestyle and the new found energy is a positive factor in all aspects of my life. I’ve noticed improvements like being more alert at work and more productive and I have extra energy for simple things like playing with my daughter or even throwing a stick for a game of fetch with the dog.
What were your initial goals and how’s training gotten you progressing toward them?
I had never worked out with a personal trainer before coming to The Training Floor, but it was a part of my overall goal for fitness that I knew I would get to. I have struggled with obesity my entire life and I have had varying degrees of success with diets over the years and a couple of periods of significant weight loss but ultimately lifestyle choices and general life challenges (stress) would win out and all the weight or more would return. A little over two years ago I decided to make it my goal to achieve overall fitness and I began a plan of healthy eating and regular exercise. The first year was amazing and the success I was having in the gym in the way of progress was profound. I started with walking on a treadmill and increased to jogging and later that year I ran my first 5k, I also lost 55 lbs. and I did it in a very healthy way. The second year was all about staying committed to the plan. I maintained my workouts, kept the bulk of the weight off and competed in the same 5k again. As the beginning of the third year approached I found The Training Floor and began working out twice a week with George. I can readily admit the workouts have completely changed my mindset for achieving my goal I am convinced we will get there and the focus on core strength combined with an unlimited amount of variations of exercise and the noticeable shape change and muscle building is all working to create the foundation for my overall health and fitness goals. My Body Wants More!
What’s your favorite exercise to do with your trainer?
There’s a bunch of them I enjoy but I would say push-ups (I’m up to 45 of them now) and the dumbbell arm presses – George keeps upping the weight – he may be crazy! And don’t tell George – but the Super-Planks are pretty cool too.
What’s your favorite meal?
Grilled Portobello Mushroom over Arugula with Parmesan Cheese Shavings and Cracked Pepper to start. Grilled Grouper, lightly blackened with Mango Salsa and Grilled Asparagus with a nice glass of some absolutely huge, kick-ass red wine – maybe a Molly Dooker – of course after I worked out!
What would you say to people about the training floor or who never have had a personal trainer and are considering one? Very simply, it is extremely difficult to work out as hard or as smart on your own. The combination of exercises, the focus on overall fitness, the constant urging and support to succeed are addictive. No matter what your level of fitness, you can raise yourself to the next level, whatever that is, with more information and better training than you would on your own. Plus it’s Fun!

Thanks you guys – George, Keep Kicking My Butt
